It's HERE!!!
{Please read this full & very long post, you won't be dissapointed!!}
Welcome to the 3rd Bead Soup Blog Party!
What is a Bead Soup Blog Party?
A few years back Lori Anderson of Pretty Things had this fab idea of enlisting a bunch of jewellery designers to swap a bag of beads, each beader who signed up to the soup was parterned with another jewellery designer, the aim was to challenge them to create something inspiring using materials they wouldn't normally use in their everyday beading projects, they were tasked with sending the following:
~ A focal
~ A special clasp (not just a lobster claw)
~ Some coordinating spacers or beads
Using the focal and the clasp was mandatory, we could also use anything from our own stash as well as {but not compulsory} the beads/spacers sent by our Soup partner.
I was fortunate to be partnered with a gorgeous lady in Canada named Cassandra of Design by Cassandra. Here's what I received from Cassandra...
As well as the above soup, I also received the following in my soup stash
Zebra Agate Focal, Zebra Agate Beads, Freshwater Pearls, Kitty Clasp, Metal Spacers,
Black Onyx & Crystal Quartz chips
And here's what I made....
...a gorgeous bracelet consisting of zebra jasper rounds, metal spacers, jade coins and the exquisite zebra jasper focal all rounded off with the kitty clasp
One of the stipulations of the Bead Soup was to use the clasp received, as the bar of the clasp didn't fit through the loop of the kitty I had to use my initiative slightly...I used the kitty part as another focal and added the bar, along with another jade coin, as a dangle....rules adhered to, drama avoided!! ;o)
As well as the above soup, I also received the following in my soup stash
Reclaimed pieces: locket, cameo earring, pieces from vintage San Marino bracelet, Amethyst Donut, Milky glass teardrop beads {pink}, Handmade lampwork beads {turquoise}, Crystal quartz beads, Spacer beads {purple & turquoise}, Flower s-clasp, Reclaimed pieces: swallow, feather, vintage charms from Paris bracelet, Silver-plated chain
I only used a fraction of the overall soup Cassandra had sent me....I have SO much to play with over the next few weeks and can't wait to keep creating soup for your enjoyment!!
Pop on over to my partner Cassandra at Design by Cassandra and see what gorgeous-ness she has created using the beads I sent to her, she has teased me with these images and I can't wait for her BIG reveal!!
Soup 1
Soup 2
Before you see what the rest of the 209 participants have created, I wanted to say a HUGE thanks to Lori Anderson for the mammoth task she undertook...I know it was a pleasure for her {program glitches put aside} and that she is already preparing for the next soup {scroll to the bottom of this post} later in the year!! To add to this awesome feat, Lori has been offered a book deal on this particular bead soup....fantastic reward for a fantastic lady!!
I also have to thank Cassandra, my partner in this soup, for being such a gem with the promotion of both our soups....it has been MUCH appreciated given everything that in happening in my personal life right now...
THANK YOU CASSANDRA!!!
Check back for details of the GIVEAWAY of my Bead Soup!!
So, no more waffling......come see what the rest of us made!

hello gorgeous xxx
Love that kitty clasp, and what a clever way to work around the bar problem!
ReplyDeleteNow that's clever. Great way to overcome your obstacle. I love the black and grey and silver mix.
ReplyDeleteI Love what you did with the Kitty part!
ReplyDeleteIt's really lovely and cute with the kitty clasp :o)
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful bracelet, love the clasp! Now thats thinking outside the square :-)
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful! Really beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThose jade coins are yummy and the perfect burst of color to frame the zebra agate.
ReplyDeleteWonderful bracelet...aren't challenges grand?, but that is how we expand our abilities, yes! Well done!
ReplyDeleteI love what you did with your "Bead Soup" ingredients. It is so much fun to see what everyone has made.
ReplyDeleteThis is outstanding! I love that kitty clasp! The pop of color is gorgeous with the other yummy stones.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful bounty of ingredients and beautiful pieces you created using them. I have some left over pieces I will have to work into another design as well. Fun, fun, fun.
ReplyDelete~*Hello Sue!*~
ReplyDeleteYou did nicely with the beads!
The effect of the stripes on the large bead goes nicely with the kitty and you did a great job modifying the clasp to work with the final product!
:o) Happy Bead Soup Sue!!!
Amber Dawn
Fun! I like how you went with the cat head charm paired with the striped focal; it makes me think of a sleek gray tabby. Very sassy and it has a lot of personality. Nicely done! :D
ReplyDeleteBoth super cute and super clever. In some ways, the Bead Soup Party is all about problem solving, as you did here with the clasp. Good thinking!
ReplyDeleteLove that clasp! I have never seen one like it! Lovely bracelet :)
ReplyDeleteIt is all about being ingenious! My first soup I used the toggle as a dangle under the pendant that I concocted from my partner's painterly business card! This is beautiful and tasty soup!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the day!
Erin
Nice, the zebra jasper is stunning.
ReplyDeleteI love how you reworked the clasp and I am sure it will not bother anyone. It sounds like you are having a hard time personally and for that I send you hugs! You know what I have to say it.....Gorgeous Work Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteIt always is a challenge when pieces don't fit together but you sure overcame that and the design is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI love the color combination, I would have never thought of that. Really nice bracelet! I hope you had fun!
ReplyDeleteThose really are gorgeous, Gorgeous! Very nicely done. Really nice job putting that beautious mix together.

ReplyDelete*bouncing in my chair!* This is BEAUTIFUL! You have quite a lot going on right now, my dear, so please don't think you've cheated me at all. In fact ... this is BEYOND gorgeous! I love the jade beads with the zebra agate ... and what cleverness with the clasp! The entire soup selection was inspired by a childhood pet, a gray tabby named Thumper. You've certainly brought a new light to a favourite memory!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to seeing what you do with the rest of the soup ... and I can't wait to show you the other pieces I've made - once I get my own computer back up. :) Great work, love! Absolutely stunning!
Very beautiful. Love the kitty clasp and the way you used it.

ReplyDeleteI lve the bracelet, its very playful, and I love how you incorperated the cat clasp into it, ingenious!
ReplyDeleteNice bracelet... Kitty clasp is cute... My bar doesn't go through my toggle either but I made my necklace long enough that it goes over my head so I don't have to undo it! That wouldn't work for a bracelet though! Nice save!
ReplyDeleteWonderful, beautiful.....Gorgeous! I love the design.
ReplyDeleteThis is really...gorgeous:-)
ReplyDeleteI love the tiger theme with the focal and the clasp ( I wonder where she got it by the way, cute) You did brillantly to put it all together so well ^_^ Virginie ViviBijoux.com
